M80 sound like that point in 1979 when punk in their home state of California was just on the cusp of morphing into early hardcore. Somewhere between The Germs, Dead Kennedys and that first Black Flag 7", a rapid pace and gnarled vocals, but with the guitarist still throwing a few flashy garage power-pop band licks in from time to time.
